President and Founder
Deborah Minor Harvey
Deborah Minor Harvey is the vision and transforming force of
The Right Source. Her considerable experience as an educator,
higher education administrator, nonprofit manager, business development
specialist, facilitator, and trainer has enabled her to bring a variety
of perspectives to her work.
Ms. Harvey holds a bachelor's of arts degree in education and a
master's degree in student personnel services with an emphasis on
guidance and counseling from Montclair State College. She engaged in
post-graduate study in curriculum development and instruction at New
York University and has completed coursework in organizational
development at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, N.J.
Prior to forming The Right Source, Ms. Harvey served as the executive
director of the Chicago Area Pre-College Engineering Program, where she
designed and implemented teacher training programs and developed
academic enrichment programs for students in grades 7 -12. As a
senior level administrator at the Stevens Institute of Technology, she
developed programming to prepare at-risk youth for math and science
based careers.
Ms. Harvey has leveraged her administration and program development
experience to make a significant impact in the policy arena. She
provided policy formulation, analysis, and advocacy support for a
nonprofit organization focused on providing quality paraprofessional
health care jobs for low-income women. Additionally, she has
participated in a number of public and private forums contributing to
policy development in the areas of education, healthcare, workforce
development, and welfare reform.
Since 1990, Ms. Harvey has provided training and business development
support to female entrepreneurs through her work with the Women's Self
Employment Project (WSEP) and the Women's Business Development Center (WBDC).
From 2000 - 2002 she served as the coordinator of the WBDC's Child Care
Business Initiative. In this capacity, she designed curriculum modules
used to support child care providers seeking to open home or
center-based child-care businesses. Ms. Harvey continues to serve as the
lead trainer of the WBDC Initiative, providing training and counseling
support to child-care providers throughout the Chicagoland area.
In March 2007, Ms. Harvey represented the Women's Business
Development Center at a U.S. State Department Office of International
Information Program in Macedonia where she conducted a number of
workshops for Macedonian women engaged in business start-up and
expansion.
Ms. Harvey has served as vice-chair and board member of Women
employed and a member of the Chicago Institute of Urban Poverty.

The Women's Treatment Center, a national model of comprehensive
substance abuse treatment and support services; Southwest Women Working
Together, an organization which works to expand options for women; and
Sustain, an environmental communications group.
